Another grim weather week! We finally got rid of all that snow and ice and it is replaced with wind and rain! I am not sure what is worse! The poor yard is just one big mud pit! Saying that, the pigs are safe and dry in the barn and the kittens have plenty of places they can go to get shelter. The horses are just pleased to be able to eat the grass again and the warmer temperatures mean that there is plenty of water so life is much easier.
We had a special treat for Chewey and Pokey this week. All this cold weather has made their skin very dry and itchy. To cheer them both up we decided to have a 'spa' morning and started by exfoliating their skin using a hard brush. (This is when you remove the top layer of dead skin). We then rubbed an extra light olive oil into their backs and behind their ears to soften and moisturise them. The olive oil also kills any lice in their skin, which means we don't have to use any chemical sprays. Like all ladies, Pokey loved all the pampering but it was Chewey that seemed to enjoy it most!
