Alison Butler is the illustrator of Roberts Farm Adventures. Alison graduated from Loughborough University in 1990 with a degree in printed textiles. In partnership with a fellow student, they set up Blooming Designs and built a successful business selling textile prints to leading high street fashion chains both in the UK and Internationally. Influenced by free wheeling illustrators such as Quentin Blake, their designs were sold predominantly to the children’s wear market.
With a creative flare that is not limited to textiles alone, Alison has also worked with a number of companies to produce large-scale backdrops for corporate events and theatre productions. Alison lives with her husband and two children on farm in the Meon Valley. Anya Faulkner, author of Roberts Farm Adventures, approached Alison in 2012 when they met on the school run. When Anya saw her work she knew immediately that Alison’s quirky and humorous illustrative style, combining pen and ink with bold colour, would bring the true essence of her characters in Roberts Farm to life. Working together they have self-published two books – Charlie Pig’s Big Day and Tummy Trouble at Roberts Farm. They are currently working on the illustrations for the third book in the series , which is all about a rat called Reggie. |
Anya Faulkner is the author of Roberts farm Adventures. Following a successful career in Marketing, in 2006 she left the London life behind her and moved to the Hampshire Countryside to start a family. Looking for a new challenge, in 2012 she reignited her love of writing comic rhyme and set up Roberts Farm Adventures - a series of stories based on a group of animals that live in an old thatched barn.
Influenced by the wit of Roald Dahl and simplistic genius of Julia Donaldson, as well as making reading fun, she wanted the series of books to have a moral to them. Stories that address difficult topics and help in the challenge to raise children to become caring, responsible adults. As a mother of three young children herself she is well aware of how tricky this can be! She met her business partner and illustrator, Alison Butler, on the school run and together they have completed and self published two books – Charlie Pig’s Big Day and Tummy Trouble at Roberts Farm – and are currently working on the third which will be completed by the end of the summer. Keen to bring the characters to life and turn Roberts Farm into an on-going adventure, they are working with Movie House Entertainment, a successful UK Based International film sales company, with the aim of producing a series of short animations. |
