It's been another busy week at Roberts Farm and I am very excited to announce the arrival of our new pony, Minty! She is gorgeous and has settled in really well. We were a little concerned about how she might react to the pigs (you might remember our blog a couple of years ago when Bo arrived - http://www.robertsfarmadventures.com/our-blog/bo-and-the-pigs) but she doesn't seem bothered in the slightest - Watch the video clip below.
The new piglets, Charlie and Solo, are also doing really well. Chewey is so happy to have company again and most mornings when I arrive at the yard, the three of them are all cuddled up next to each other.
It appears winter has arrived so make sure you stay wrapped up warm and have a lovely weekend. Don't forget to tune in next week for our next update on the farm!

After a long break, I am pleased to announce that we are going to re-start our weekly video blogs of life at Roberts Farm. It has been a busy few months with a couple of new arrivals, including two new piglets that we picked up last Friday - See the video clip below.
So make sure you tune in each week to get the latest on the piglets, cows, chickens, horses and ponies. Not forgetting the new guinea pigs and African Land snails!

We are also very excited to announce the launch of our new project - Funky Feathers! Come and meet our bonkers seventies style, disco dancing chickens! Check them out at http://www.funkyfeathers.co.uk

Have a great weekend!
<![CDATA[Chewey goes home!]]>Thu, 18 Jun 2015 06:09:02 GMThttp://www.robertsfarmadventures.com/our-blog/chewey-goes-homeIt's been a while since my last blog as I have been having some issues with the storage on my computer but I am pleased to say it has finally be resolved!

It's been a very busy week for Roberts Farm. On Sunday we took our latest book, Reggie Rocks, along to the Save the Children fund raiser at Queen Elizabeth Country Park where Dervla Kirwan kindly did a series of book readings. It is always such a joy to hear her bring the characters to life and the feedback was excellent.

Back at the farm, it was time to move Chewey (our rather large boar!) up to the top fields. (Watch the video clip below). Considering he is probably the laziest pig you will ever meet, this is quite a journey for him and we assumed it would take a while. However, he totally surprised us and trotted up as fast as he could, very excited to be out of the barn. As pigs are sociable creatures, we are going to find a friend for him next week - I will let you know how we get on.
Just a reminder that if you are looking for a gift for friends or family, check out our new gift packs. They include the three stories in the Roberts Farm Adventures series plus some stickers and a limited edition car sticker - all beautifully wrapped and bound in a ribbon colour of your choice.
Finally I would like to shout out a huge GET WELL SOON to Ollie Bembridge. Max is missing you at school! Have a great weekend.
<![CDATA[Our Big Launch!]]>Thu, 02 Apr 2015 06:42:05 GMThttp://www.robertsfarmadventures.com/our-blog/our-big-launch

What a week! After a few technical issues with our new book, Reggie Rocks, it finally went to print yesterday.
So Als and I would like to invite you to come and meet stinky Reggie and join in the fun at the Meon Springs Country Experience day on Sunday 19th April where the fabulous actress, Dervla Kirwan, will do a live book reading at 2pm, bringing the characters from Roberts Farm Adventures to life.

This is a fun day out for the whole family. See a real farm in action with live demonstrations, tractor rides, a visit to the dairy, plus you can try your hand at a number of rural activities including fishing and shooting, archery and pony rides. There will also be lots of stalls and places to buy delicious local foods and drinks. Check it out at:

You will find us in the yurt just in front of the white farmhouse – which is actually the farmhouse that is featured in all our books! It’s the perfect end to the Easter break.

Back at the farm it’s been a windy week so we bought the ponies down to the yard at night. Jasper, as per usual, saw this as the perfect opportunity to go on a rummage for extra snacks – watch the video clip below!

Have a fun Easter break and don’t eat too much chocolate – remember what happened to our greedy pony, Cassidy, in the book Tummy Trouble!
<![CDATA[Introducing Reggie!]]>Wed, 25 Mar 2015 13:44:29 GMThttp://www.robertsfarmadventures.com/our-blog/introducing-reggie
(Click on the link to watch the video clip).
It’s been a very full on week for Roberts Farm Adventures as we have been finishing off the final pages of our latest book, Reggie Rocks, which is due to go to press today!

Reggie Rocks is all about a Rat who lives in a nest under the old thatched barn. He is desperate to make friends with the other animals but there is one big problem – he stinks!
Fortunately, he meets Marge and her team of bonkers chickens from Funky Feathers Beauty Salon and suddenly his life is transformed! The book will be available to buy from our site next week.

Now back to the real farm and as promised, I would like to introduce our four new additions to the yard – Betty, Linda, Dolly and April! They arrived just over a week ago and have already settled in well. (See video clip below).

Als also has a new addition to her family – a gorgeous retriever puppy called Shirley! It seems that Pepsi, her black Labrador, has taken her under her wing and the pair are now inseparable.

Enjoy this lovely sunshine and don't forget to tune in next week!
<![CDATA[Meet the New pigs!]]>Mon, 16 Mar 2015 20:17:21 GMThttp://www.robertsfarmadventures.com/our-blog/meet-the-new-pigsI know it has been a very long time since we last posted a blog so apologies to everyone who has missed our video diaries of the animals on the farm. The winter is always hard work and it is such a relief that we are finally approaching spring.

I am sad to tell you that Pokey died about a month ago. She was a gorgeous pig and my main inspiration for creating Roberts Farm Adventures so will be sorely missed. Poor Chewey was lost without her so we currently have two new recruits – Scarlett and Primrose – who will be staying with us for the next few months to keep him company. (See video clip below).

Bagel and Jo, our two gorgeous horses, and Jasper and Toby, the naughty ponies, are all doing really well. Next week they are going to have to contend with the arrival of four new animals - April, Betty, Linda and Dolly - so make sure you tune in and find out how that went.

Finally I am very excited to announce that our latest book in the series - Reggie Rocks - is due to go to print next week! Introducing the bonkers chickens from Funky Feathers, Reggie Rocks addresses the issue of personal hygiene. Check out Reggie at Our books. You are going to love him!

Have a good week!
<![CDATA[A trip to the dentist!]]>Wed, 02 Jul 2014 06:04:56 GMThttp://www.robertsfarmadventures.com/our-blog/a-trip-to-the-dentist
Click on the link above to watch the video clip.

The 1st of July! We are officially in the middle of summer and actually it is proving to be a very pleasant one. In fact the weather has been so kind to us that we cut the hay last weekend and spent Sunday afternoon stacking the bales in to the barn, ready for the winter. Unfortunately we didn’t get as many as we had hoped so will be relying on a second cut in August so let’s hope the sun keeps shining.

Back at the yard it was ‘teeth’ time for Bagel and the ponies. As they are all still young, every six months the vet needs to come out and check their teeth to make sure all the right ones are growing through and to have them filed back to ensure they don’t cause any gum irritations. The equipment they use looks medieval – it is basically a head collar with a metal clamp that locks the horses jaw open so that the vet can get into the mouth without them being able to close it and bite them! Saying that, it is no different to us going to the dentist and doesn’t cause them any pain at all. However, Jasper was not convinced and we ended up having to sedate him so the vet could get the job done! He was out for the count in seconds and slept for a good hour afterwards – watch the video clip above!

Enjoy this lovely weather – the schools break up soon so no doubt it won’t last!

<![CDATA[The amazing running pig!]]>Mon, 09 Jun 2014 18:15:06 GMThttp://www.robertsfarmadventures.com/our-blog/the-amazing-running-pig
Wow, summer has finally arrived! What a difference it makes when the sun is shining although I have no doubt that by the end of the week we will all be complaining about how hot it is!

It's a bit quieter at the yard now as Chewey and Pokey have been moved up to the top fields. Pokey couldn't wait to get up there and as soon as we opened her sty gates she was trotting up the path, soon to break into quite a fast run (watch the video clip!) Chewey, on the other hand, found the whole trip very exhausting and it took quite a lot of encouragement with his food bucket to keep him moving.

Both pigs are really enjoying this warm weather, especially Chewey who was wallowing in his mud puddle when I arrived this morning to feed them. They love to sun bathe and so tomorrow I will be taking up a bottle of sun lotion as in true British style, they get sun burnt!

Have a good week.

<![CDATA[Welcome Back!]]>Thu, 22 May 2014 14:20:29 GMThttp://www.robertsfarmadventures.com/our-blog/welcome-back1
(Click on the link above to watch the video clip)

Spring has properly arrived at Roberts Farm after what was a very wet winter. For the last few months we have been knee deep in mud and apart from Chewey paying a visit to Butser Ancient Farm (where they also have Gloucester Old Spot pigs) there really was nothing to report.

So what about all the animals?
The ponies both survived the winter. Jasper, our little Welsh Mountain, is becoming more and more cheeky. In fact he really reminds me of my youngest daughter Orla, who is also 5! We have started doing pony games with them, which they seem to enjoy and both love hacking out with the two horses.

Bagel and Jo are both doing well and enjoying being back out in the fields. As for the pigs, well they spent the winter months in the barn which is never much fun for them. However, we are moving them up to the fields at the top of the farm tomorrow which will make them both very happy.

Have a great bank holiday weekend and make sure you visit next week to see how we got on moving the pigs!

<![CDATA[Roberts Farm are off to Cannes!]]>Thu, 08 May 2014 20:56:26 GMThttp://www.robertsfarmadventures.com/our-blog/roberts-farm-are-off-to-cannesIt seems a lifetime ago that I wrote my last blog. Als and I have been really busy working on a very exciting new project with Moviehouse Entertainment, a UK based independent film sales and production company. They approached us at the end of 2013 with the idea of taking Roberts Farm Adventures to the television market and will be at the Cannes Film festival next week, with Pokey Pig and her friends in tow! I will keep you all posted on any developments.

Als and I have also started working on our latest book all about a rat called Reggie!
This story addresses the importance of personal hygiene and is all about a rat that lives in his nest underneath the barn. He is desperate to make friends with all the other animals but there is one big problem - he stinks! Fortunately with the help of Marge and her brood of hens, help is at hand.

As for the animals back at the yard, I plan to start my weekly videos again next week so make sure you keep watching to find out how Pokey, Chewey, Jo, Bagel, Jasper and Toby are all doing!

Have a great weekend.
