What a busy week, followed by an even busier weekend so I am feeling exhausted! My niece had her naming ceremony on Saturday and even though the weather let us down, it was a great turn out and everyone had a fantastic time. Most of the guests popped up to the farm to meet the animals and help with feed time. The piglets were especially pleased, as not only did they get plenty of attention, they were also given the left over puddings, which were a huge hit!
It is looking like it could be a very busy week again at the farm as the local farmer turned up this morning with his tractor to cut the hay. It will be left to dry out for the next couple of days on the ground and then the farmer will return to collect and shape it all into bales, ready to store for the winter months. My sister and I, along with as many people as we can muster, will then have to collect up all of the bales (there will be around 300 in total) as soon as possible and put them into the barn, hopefully before we have any rain! If the hay gets wet there is a good chance it will rot and be useless for the horses during the winter. It is a very physical job so we will need to make sure we eat our weetabix in the morning! I’ll be videoing all the action and will post it up next week!
The artwork for the next book, Tummy Trouble at Roberts Farm, is nearly finished which is really exciting. With a focus on healthy eating and exercise, this story includes a board game that is integrated into the book. The purpose of the game is to highlight the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods and show how much fun exercise is. We had great fun playing it and I know you will too!
Have a good week!
