I can’t believe that Christmas day is only eight sleeps away!
It was very busy at the farm last week. With the freezing temperatures, we had to ensure all the pigs had plenty of straw in their sty’s to keep warm and cosy. As it was really cold, there was no water at the yard because the pipes all froze but because we were expecting the cold weather to arrive, we filled a number of large buckets with water on Monday. However, Chewey (the boar), decided on Wednesday morning that he was going to empty them out by pushing them over! What a monkey he is! So we had to carry up large containers from my sister’s house to ensure there was plenty of water for all the animals. It is a very good way to keep fit and means we have an excuse to eat a few extra mince pies!
The four kittens, Brave, Tom, Shimmer and Sparkle, are all still living at the yard. When I arrived on Thursday morning, they were keeping warm by snuggling up to each other at the top of the hay bales in the barn. They looked very sweet!
As a Friday treat I bought a load of smartie cupcakes for the piglets, which, if you watch the video clip, you will see were an enormous hit! In two weeks time Dumbella and her sisters will be separated from Pokey and taken to a lovely farm just up the road. This means I will still be able to visit them and continue to keep you up to date with their activities.
I hope all your Christmas preparations are going well - make sure you keep watching over the holidays for all the latest from the farm!
